Indiana comes in at the No. 29 spot in the updated 2027 recruiting rankings from Rivals. If it holds, it will be the second consecutive Top-30 class for Indiana, as IU was also ranked in the No. 29 spot for the 2026 recruiting cycle. The vast majority of players in the 2027 cycle have announced their commitments, so it would be a bit surprising to see these rankings fluctuate all that much over the next few months.
It's clear that Cignetti's success on the field has translated to success on the recruiting trail. The 2027 recruiting class is his fourth at Indiana, and he has worked the Hoosiers up in the rankings by a significant margin during his tenure in Bloomington.

In 2025, the Hoosiers landed the No. 53 overall recruiting class in the country. Cignetti's first class at Indiana back in 2024 was ranked No. 60 in the country. Now poised to secure back-to-back Top-30 classes, Indiana football recruiting continues to raise the standard with Cignetti leading the way.
Furthermore, it's worth noting that Cignetti has Indiana ahead of several programs that aren't used to trailing Indiana in these types of rankings. Most notably, the Hoosiers are ahead of Alabama (No. 33), Florida State (No. 30), and Louisville (No. 31).

Indiana's 2027 class features 17 total players and five blue-chip prospects according to Rivals. Although, multiple other players have gained blue-chip status on other recruiting platforms.
Landing back-to-back Top-30 recruiting classes is yet another impressive win for Cignetti during his time in Bloomington. Indiana football recruiting has had some good years in the past, but has never really sustained strong success on the recruiting trail. Cignetti appears to be changing that in a major way.
The biggest win in that effort came when earlier this summer when Cignetti landed Indiana's first-ever 5-star high school prospect. WR Monshun Sales is heralded as one of the top recruits in the country for the 2027 recruiting class, and he ultimately chose to play for Cignetti at Indiana over other contenders including Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, and Miami (FL). Beating out those traditional blue blood recruiting programs shows just how far Indiana football recruiting has come under Cignetti.
The recruiting momentum for Cignetti and Indiana doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon, which has Hoosier fans fired up for what Cignetti can do in 2026 and beyond.
