Despite the recent injuries handed to the Indiana football team the Hoosiers were still able to defeat Maryland in a 55-10 road win to improve to 9-0 on the season. The now ranked No. 2 team in the nation in the latest College Football Playoff rankings have not been bit by the injury bug too bad this season with no major or long term injuries up until last week.
Starring offensive guard Drew Evans, inside linebacker Aiden Fisher and wide receiver Elijah Sarratt were all banged up the past few weeks and their play is questionable for this upcoming weeks game against Penn State.
“Elijah Sarratt is now in the injury tent for the second time since this game started,” CBS Sports' Jenny Dell said. “I’m trying to figure out what exactly is going on. I’ll update you as soon as I know. But he is not out on the field.”
Senior wide receiver Elijah Sarratt started in Indiana's win over Maryland, but appeared to suffer a hamstring injury midway through the first quarter. Sarratt did not return to the game, though he remained in full uniform and on the sidelines for the remainder of the afternoon leaving him with no catches in the game.
"Elijah, we'll know more day-to-day," Cignetti said. "He's been dealing with something the last two weeks but has been able to play. Had a little tweak of something else early in the game, and we got him out for precautionary reasons."
On the season Sarratt aka "Waffle House" because he's always open 24/7 leads Indiana with 45 catches, 609 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns while averaging 13.5 yards per catch.
If Sarratt can't go he will be again replaced by Charlie Becker, the sophomore wide receiver from Nashville, TN has 7 receptions for 157 yards and 1 touchdown on the season so far. Against Maryland last week, Becker had a career-long 52-yard reception.
The (3-5) Penn State Nittany Lions are on a five-game losing streak and will try and upset the undefeated No. 2 (9-0) Indiana Hoosiers is Saturday at Noon E.T.
The Big Ten matchup will take place at Beaver Stadium and will be broadcast on FOX.
Indiana will be without starting guard Drew Evans when they play at Penn State on Saturday, while the statuses of receiver Elijah Sarratt and linebacker Aiden Fisher remain uncertain. https://t.co/TqYgauNU8R
