Indiana is coming off handing out an ass kicking, humiliating Maryland on their home field 55-10 last Saturday.
Before the head to Happy Valley to take on Penn State, the real rankings have been released.
The College Football Playoff Committee revealed its first rankings and top-12 team projections of 2025, including Indiana at No. 2 on Tuesday night in a special show on ESPN.
Former NFL and Alabama signal-caller Greg McElroy had a ton to say on the show which also included Joey Galloway, Booger McFarland and host Rece Davis.
"If we're going simply eye test right now, the team I would least like to play right now is Indiana" - Greg McElroy said tonight on ESPN's national televised first episode of the College Football Playoff release show.
On Always College Football, ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy also saidhe expects that dominance to continue this weekend when they take on Penn State on the road.
“I’m going to lay the points with the Indiana Hoosiers,” McElroy said. His pick underscores how far the Hoosiers have come in just two seasons under Cignetti. Indiana enters at 9-0 overall and 6-0 in Big Ten play, while Penn State sits at 3-5 with five straight losses and an interim coach leading a team searching for direction.
The former all-SEC quarterback who starred at Alabama said this game feels “like two teams heading in completely different directions.” Indiana’s offense, led by quarterback Fernando Mendoza, has been ruthlessly efficient. Mendoza owns a 72 percent completion rate with 25 touchdowns and only four interceptions. His accuracy and command in the RPO game have made Indiana No. 1 nationally in turnover margin and No. 1 in third-down conversions.
The Indiana Hoosiers will travel to Beaver Stadium to face-off against Penn State on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET on FOX.
Indiana has never won at Penn State and is 2-25 all-time in the series. IU’s last win came in the dramatic 36-35 2020 win led by Michael Penix Jr. In their most recent matchup, Penn State won 33-24 at Beaver Stadium in 2023.
