Indiana's 2027 recruiting class has had a roller coaster of a week. The highest-ranked recruit in the class, 4-star CB Monsanna Torbert Jr, decommitted from the Hoosiers on Monday. He was the second Hoosier commit to abandon his pledge to Indiana this spring, following 4-star WR Ja'Hyde Brown who decommitted on March 12.

But Curt Cignetti wasn't been down for long.

So far this week, Cignetti has secured verbal commitments from 4-star OT Mason McDermott, 3-star WR Branden Sharpe, and 3-star DB Rico Jackson. On Thursday, the Hoosier head coach continued to keep the momentum rolling.

WR Jordan Carrasquillo commits to Indiana

On Thursday afternoon, Indiana received a commitment from 2027 WR Jordan Carrasquillo. His commitment comes just hours after Rivals’ Chad Simmons officially predicted Indiana to land the 3-star wideout.

Cignetti first extended an offer to Carrasquillo back on January 17, 2025, and his verbal commitment makes him the 7th player to join Indiana's 2027 recruiting class. The 6'2" 195-pound playmaker chose the Hoosiers over other Power 4 offers from Cincinnati, Kentucky, Maryland, Wake Forest, and Boston College.

Hailing from Alpharetta, Georgia, the 247Sports Composite Rankings have Carrasquillo pegged as the No. 104 wide receiver in the 2027 recruiting class. He finished his junior season at Milton High School with 33 catches for 586 yards (17.8 YPC) to go along with 7 touchdowns.

Indiana's 2027 wide receiving core has strong potential

Carrasquillo is the second wide receiver to join Indiana's 2027 recruiting class. He follows 3-star Branden Sharpe, who committed to the Cream and Crimson earlier this week on May 18. Hailing from Brownsburg, Sharpe is ranked as the No. 79 wide receiver in the country and No. 13 overall player in the state of Indiana according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Indiana's mix of 2027 receivers could get even better if Cignetti is able to secure a commitment from 5-star wideout Monshun Sales. Sales is predicted to end up in Bloomington, but at this point, anything can happen.

Hailing from Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, Sales is ranked as the No. 1 overall player in the state of Indiana and the No. 1 wide receiver in the country according to 247Sports. Furthermore, he is ranked as the No. 7 overall recruit in the nation by the 247Sports Composite Rankings. A receiving core of Sharpe, Carrasquillo, and Sales would make for a well-rounded WR group in IU's 2027 class.

Cignetti has shown he can find and develop elite wide receiver talent. This past season, Omar Cooper Jr. and Elijah Sarratt were one of the most lethal receiving duos in all of college football. They are now both NFL bound after Cooper was selected by the Jets in the First Round (30th overall) and Sarratt was picked by the Ravens in the Fourth Round (115th overall) in last month's NFL Draft.

Looking ahead, Michigan State transfer Nick Marsh and returning wideout Charlie Becker have a chance to provide the Indiana passing attack with another elite 1-2 receiving punch.
