After bringing home a historic National Championship last season, Curt Cignetti has the future looking bright for the Indiana football program for 2026 beyond. Cignetti and his staff are in the process of identifying future talent to bring to Bloomington, and one player the Hoosiers are honing in on is 4-star tight end Devyn Severson.

Severson is one of the most sought-after prospects in the 2028 recruiting class, and the offers continue to come pouring in. He now has over 20 offers from Power 4 programs across the country, and Indiana has gained an edge in his recruitment.

4-star TE Jevyn Severson plans to visit Indiana this spring

Severson has locked in three visits for the spring, and Hoosier fans are excited to see the cream and crimson on his list of destinations. The star tight end will make his way to Bloomington on April 14. He is also set to visit Illinois on April 13 and Notre Dame on April 15.

Hailing from Madrid, IA, Severson is arguably the best tight end in the country for his recruiting class. 247Sports has him pegged as a 4-star prospect and ranked as the No. 58 overall player and No. 2 tight end in the country for the 2028 class. He is also ranked as the top overall player in the state of Iowa.

Given his status as one of the top recruits in the country, Severson is likely to add more visits than the three he has on the schedule right now. However, Hoosier fans know that Cignetti's success in Bloomington speaks for itself, which figures to keep Indiana firmly in the mix throughout Severson's recruitment process.

When constructing his rosters in Bloomington, Cignetti has found a solid balance between utilizing the transfer portal and focusing on high school recruiting. He inked a top-20 recruiting class in the country for 2026 along with bringing in 17 transfers. His 2027 recruiting class currently features four players, and is led by 4-star CB Monsanna Torbet Jr.

As his visit to Bloomington nears, Severson has a chance to kick-start IU's recruiting class for 2028.
