Curt Cignetti, Hoosiers make their case as 4-star LB Judah Blair trims list

Curt Cignetti put together a strong summer on the recruiting trail, and has now landed back-to-back Top-30 recruiting classes. Most notably, Cignetti was able to secure a commitment from Lawrence North WR Monshun Sales, who became the first 5-star high school commit in Indiana football recruiting history. Sales is one of 17 commits in Indiana's 2027 recruiting class, which is ranked as the No. 27 class in the country according to On3.

With the 2027 cycle all but wrapped up, Cignetti and his staff have started to turn their attention to the 2028 cycle. The Hoosiers have just one commit so far in that cycle, which comes in the form of 4-star QB Lukas Prock. Prock is off to a tremendous start to his junior season at Hun High School in New Jersey, and continues to move up the national recruiting rankings.

As Cignetti continues his quest for Indiana's next round of recruits, one prospect recently gave the Hoosiers some more optimism.

Indiana among 10 final contenders for 4-star LB Judah Blair

4-star LB Judah Blair has cemented himself as one of the top prospects in the 2028 recruiting class. Hailing from Cincinnati and playing his high school football at Lakota West, Blair is ranked as the No. 3 prospect in the state of Ohio and the No. 6 linebacker in the country according to Rivals. He recently trimmed his list of finalists down to 10 schools, and to the delight of Indiana football fans, the Hoosiers made the cut.

Along with Indiana, Blair is still considering Oregon, Kentucky, Penn State, NC State, Missouri, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, and Tennessee.

Playing for Lakota West, Blair totaled 57 total tackles to go along with 15.5 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, and an interception during his sophomore season. He’s off to a strong start to his junior season, and is on pace to exceed last year's numbers by a wide margin. Through five games, Blair is already up to 49 total tackles.

The Hoosiers have been in the mix for a while, as Cignetti issued an offer to Blair back on May 22, 2025. Next on the agenda is to get him on campus for an Official Visit. Look for Blair to put together his schedule of Official Visits over the next few months before narrowing his list down any further.

Cignetti has a proven track record when it comes to developing great linebacker talent. Aiden Fisher followed Cignetti from James Madison to Indiana, and played a key role in IU's National Championship-winning season last year. He was a two-time First-Team All-American in Bloomington, and was drafted by the Houston Texans in the 7th round of the 2026 NFL Draft. In 2026, Hoosier linebackers Rolijah Hardy and Isaiah Jones are currently two of the best linebackers in the Big Ten.
