Indiana's 2027 recruiting class has been a bit of a roller coaster ride so far this spring. As it stands, Curt Cignetti has secured a total of 12 commitments and has Indiana positioned with a Top-30 recruiting class in the country.

New SEC contender emerges in recruiting race for 5-star Indiana target Monshun Sales

However, Indiana has lost a pair of blue chip recruits with decommitments from 4-star WR Ja'Hyde Brown and 4-star CB Monsanna Torbert Jr. Brown has since changed his commitment to Louisville, while Torbert remains undecided on his future -- but one team is looking to seal the deal with the highly-touted recruit.

Ohio State predicted to land former Indiana 4-star commit Monsanna Torbert Jr.

Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes have been involved in Torbert's recruitment from the beginning, and now they are putting their foot on the gas. Torbert was in Columbus this past weekend for an Ohio State Official Visit, and the Buckeyes seem to be making quite the impression.

Torbert was reportedly in Columbus on Thursday to attend OSU's football camp as a spectator prior to getting his Official Visit started on Friday. The visit lasted throughout the weekend, and recruiting experts now have the Buckeyes listed as the frontrunners in his commitment.

Rivals' Steve Wiltfong has logged an expert prediction for Ohio State to land the talented cornerback. That's significant considering the fact that Wiltfong's predictions are hitting at a 91.81% clip all-time. In addition, Rivals' Greg Smith and Alex Gleitman also expect Torbert to put pen to paper with the Buckeyes.

Monsanna Torbert Jr. has improved his standing in recruiting rankings since decommitting from Indiana

If Torbert does in fact end up in Columbus, he will join a Buckeye recruiting class that is currently ranked No. 8 in the country by Rivals. Indiana currently holds the No. 30 spot. His decision to abandon the Hoosiers was a tough blow, and seeing him go to Ohio State would only put salt in the wound for Hoosier football fans.

At the time of his decommittment from Indiana back on May 18, Torbert was ranked as the No. 16 cornerback and No. 139 overall player in the country according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Since then, he has improved his standing in those rankings. Now, the 5'11" 175-pound prospect is ranked as the No. 13 cornerback and No. 102 overall player in the 2027 cycle.

The Hoosiers and Buckeyes have formed quite the rivalry over the last few years, and that is expected to continue in 2026 when the two teams square off at Memorial Stadium on October 17. Both teams could very well be ranked in the Top-5 of the AP Poll when that matchup rolls around, and it has the potential to be the Game of the Year in all of college football.
