Assembly Ball TBT squad adds another former star alumni in Troy Williams

Troy Williams is joining the Indiana Hoosiers alumni team Assembly Ball for its run in The Basketball Tournament this summer.

The news was announced on Wednesday morning. Williams joins Yogi Ferrell and James Blackmon Jr. as the first three roster commitments for Assembly Ball.

Williams played three seasons at Indiana (2013-2016) and averaged 11.3 points and 5.9 rebounds while helping lead the Hoosiers to two NCAA Tournament appearances. Williams final two seasons were stellar, he earned All-Big Ten honors as a sophomore and junior.

Williams skipped his final season of eligibility to enter the 2016 NBA Draft. Williams went undrafted and signed with the Phoenix Suns for the 2016 NBA Summer League, before joining the Memphis Grizzlies for the 2016 season. Williams spent three seasons in the NBA, playing for the Memphos Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, and Sacramento Kings.

Since leaving the NBA, Williams has played professionally in Europe, South America, and Asia, most recently playing for Venados de Mazatlan in Mexico. 

Assembly Ball, the Indiana alumni team hosting The Basketball Tournament’s (TBT) regional alongside All Good Dawgs (Butler Alumni) at the Hinkle Fieldhouse from July 19-22

Per TBT press release: All regional hosts have the right to HOME COURT ADVANTAGE all the way through TBT’s Championship Game!

The winner of the Indiana Regional will advance to TBT’s quarterfinals on July 29. The semifinals will be held on July 31, and TBT’s $1 million championship will be played on Aug. 3.

For the first time, TBT will give each host team the opportunity to have home court advantage for the quarterfinals, semifinals, and the $1 million championship game. Should two regional hosts face off, the tie breaker will be determined by which host sells 4,000 tickets the fastest. Tickets are on sale now at tbthoops.com/tickets
