A lot can change in a month.
The month of May didn't start out too hot for the Indiana Hoosiers on the recruiting trail. Indiana entered May with just four commits in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and with the decommitment of 4-star CB Monsanna Torbert Jr, Curt Cignetti and company had some work to do. Torbert was Indiana's highest-ranked recruit, and his departure dealt the Hoosiers a tough blow.
However, Cignetti quickly rebounded. Indiana secured a total of six commitments throughout the rest of May, and that momentum has already carried over into June.
On Wednesday, Cignetti landed commitments from 4-star EDGE Reinaldo Perez and 3-star RB Da'Jon Talley-Rhodes. Perez is the third blue-chip recuit to join Indiana's 2027 class, which now features a total of 11 players.
Cignetti's recent hot streak on the recruiting trail has Indiana's 2027 group of prospects moving up in the national recruiting rankings. Indiana entered May with the No. 52 overall recruiting class in the country, but now the Hoosiers' 2027 class is ranked No. 29 in the nation by Rivals. With the way he has things rolling right now, Cignetti and the Hoosiers are poised to put together one of the best recruiting classes in the country.

Cignetti isn't done yet
As strong as the class is looking right now, Cignetti isn't done yet. The Hoosiers are set to host several top prospects throughout the rest of June, and with the way Cignetti is cooking right now, more commitments could be on the way sooner rather than later.
Curt Cignetti has Indiana poised for historic milestone before the season even starts
Cignetti is also eyeing his first 5-star recruit at the helm of the Indiana program. The Hoosiers are locked in a high-stakes recruiting battle for WR Monshun Sales, who is ranked as the No. 1 WR and No. 7 overall player in the country for the 2027 class according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Sales is a local product, as he plays high school football at Lawrence North in Indianapolis. However, his family originally hails from Alabama, and the Crimson Tide are firmly in the mix for his services as well. Indiana has the inside track, as last month Rivals' Steve Wiltfong logged an expert prediction for Cignetti and the Hoosiers to land Sales. But nothing is set in stone yet, and as we've seen before, anything can happen when it comes to high-stakes recruiting.
But no matter what happens with Sales, Hoosier fans have plenty of confidence in the future of the IU football program with Cignetti at the helm.
