The Indiana Hoosiers currently have no starters from last year still on their roster, and even their main players off the bench are gone, too, with Myles Rice being the latest Hoosiers player to enter the transfer portal. The only player from last season who has a chance at returning is Luke Goode if he is granted his hardship waiver for a fifth season.

So, new head coach Darian DeVries is going to have to do the same thing he did last year in his first season at West Virginia and build this team from the transfer portal. Right now, Indiana has one high school recruit signed and still joining the Hoosiers next season and another who is committed but keeping his options open.

DeVries is going to want some familiarity on his team, and he will have that with his son Tucker DeVries following his father to the Hoosiers, but bringing more players from West Virginia will help DeVries get into the program.

So, with that being said, here are three players DeVries should really consider trying to bring to Indiana with him from West Virginia.

1. Jonathan Powell

Jonathan Powell was just a freshman last year at West Virginia and was still a big part of the team, playing an average of 30.1 minutes per game and starting every game but 11 of them. Powell had a solid shot as a young player, shooting 37.8% from the field and 35.2% from deep range, averaging 8.3 points per game.

Powell would be a solid young guard this Indiana team will need to build around, as it looks like DeVries is going to have to build this team from the ground up with the number of players that have entered the transfer portal.

2. Amani Hansberry

Amani Hansberry chose to play for DeVries after spending one season in the Big Ten with Illinois and became a regular starter for the first-year West Virginia coach. After joining DeVries in Morgantown, Hansberry improved in every part of his game, going from averaging 2.4 points per game to 9.8 and from 2.1 rebounds per game to 6.5 per game.

Hansberry was only playing in about half of each game, averaging 23.6 minutes per game, but with the biggest role at Indiana with almost everyone gone for the Hoosiers, Hansberry could see his playing time excel, and he would already have a relationship with DeVries.

3. Sencire Harris

Sincere Harris also spent one season at Illinois before transferring to West Virginia last season when DeVries was hired as the Mountaineers head coach. In one season at West Virginia, Harris doubled his minters per game and started all 32 games for the Mountaineers.

Although Harris may not be the biggest scorer around, averaging just 5.9 points per game last season, he does average 4.3 rebounds as a 6-foot-4 guard and 1.6 assists per game. He also knows how to get in the passing lanes, averaging 1.7 steals per game. As the Hoosiers have continued to lose player after player to the transfer portal, Harris is an experienced guard who also has experience in the Big Ten and DeVries as his head coach.
