Moment #3: January 20, 2022 – “Big Shot” Rob Phinisee knocks down a huge three-pointer to take down Jaden Ivey and No. 4 Purdue in Assembly Hall

The senior guard from West Lafayette, Indiana made his decision in 2018 to head to Bloomington instead of his hometown Boilermakers and finally, it paid off.

In his six previous games against Purdue prior to 2022, Phinisee averaged just 6.5 points on 31.9 percent shooting from the field, 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 turnovers. The downfall to that less-than-impressive stat line was Phinisee was 0-6 against the Boilermakers in his first six games.

That would all change on January 20, when Phinisee would come off the bench and lead the Hoosiers in scoring with 20 points on 8-for-13 from the field and 4-for-7 from beyond the arc.

The most important shot of the game came with 17 seconds on the clock and Phinisee knocked down a contested three-pointer from the corner to give the Hoosiers the lead, which ended up being the game-winning shot.
