Moment #2: September 1, 2022 – Coach Woodson finally welcomes 5-star guard from Montverde Academy, Jalen Hood-Schifino, to the program

On December 29, 2019, three years ago to this day, Jalen Hood-Schifino committed to the University of Pittsburgh and was planning on “going home” to help his hometown program.

On July 27, 2020, Hood-Schifino decommits from Pitt and wanted the opportunity to go through the entire recruiting process after transferring to Montverde Academy for his junior and senior seasons.

His first offer after decommitting… Kansas. Fair to say he made the right choice. Since July 2020, Hood-Schifino gained offers from Kansas, Tennessee, Arizona, Arizona State, Seton Hall, Florida State, Connecticut, Miami (FL), Texas, Memphis, and of course, Indiana.

On August 24, 2021, the day that has been dedicated to the late legend, Kobe Bryant, Jalen Hood-Schifino officially committed to playing college basketball at Indiana University and chose Mike Woodson and the Hoosiers over Florida, Memphis, Texas, and Tennessee.

On September 1, 2022, Jalen Hood-Schifino officially enrolls at Indiana University and the rest of the story is currently being written, as Hood-Schifino was the only freshman that earned a starting spot from day one and currently averages 10.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in 28.8 minutes per game.
