Indiana Football: Best conference for Hoosiers outside of Big Ten

#3 – Big 12

If the Hoosiers want to go somewhere they can score a lot of points this is the conference to go to. The problem is this conference might have overall the best offenses in the country. There are teams not in the Big 12 with better offenses, but as a conference as a whole, they have the best.

Indiana could compete in the Big 12 and probably finish in the top half this year, but you still have to deal with Oklahoma, Baylor, and Texas. Not to mention Oklahoma State should be pretty good with Chubba Hubbard running the ball.

The Big 12 wouldn’t be a bad landing spot for the Hoosiers, but they don’t have any built-in rivals and the other conferences do. Travel wouldn’t be horrible but it would be a lot of trips to Texas, and while they are only an hour behind, it is still a good trip each time to get there.

With this being a weird year and if the conference swithced up to divisions it wouldn’t be the worst because the Hoosiers could be matched up with West Virginia, Kansas, Iowa State among others and that could provide some fun games for sure.

Indiana could do a lot worse than ending up in the Big 12, but of the three Power 5 conferences left it makes the least sense for them.
