The Indiana Hoosier football program extended a scholarship offer to 2027 Ohio tight end and edge rusher Jaylen Mercer earlier this year. Jaylen Mercer asked in a social media post yesterday, "Where's home??? Could Indiana be the next landing spot for this talented young man's career?

Although Mercer currently doesn't have any ratings on 247Sports or On3, he's received offers from programs - including Purdue, Michigan State, USC, UNLV, Illinois, Penn State, Oregon, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Mizzou, Indiana, Maryland and Tennessee among others.

Mercer starts at tight end and defensive end for Winton Woods High School in Cincinnati, Ohio but is projected to play defensive end at the college level for Indiana. At 6-foot-4, 235 pounds and only entering his junior season, Mercer would be a high level player in Bryant Haines defense and a potential day one starter.

The Indiana football program recently picked up a commitment from offensive lineman Sam Simpson making him the fist commit to the 2026 class. Simpson, who also had offers from Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Wisconsin and Kansas selected Indiana earlier this month.

Indiana has yet to secure any commitments in its 2027 class but in the new day and age of NIL, flips, de-commits and two signing days we have a long way to go in the process.
