Heading into his first season in Bloomington for the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball program, head coach Darian DeVries has wasted no time making a good first impression with the Hoosiers fanbase and national media.

DeVries has assembled one of the nation’s top transfer classes, ranked seventh nationally by ESPN, including Sun Belt Player of the Year Tayton Conerway, his son and West Virginia transfer Tucker DeVries and Atlantic-10 all-conference selection Reed Bailey.

DeVries praised Indiana’s existing financial structure during a recent podcast appearance, noting its advantage over programs starting from scratch.

“I think the thing here is that they had a lot of things in place already, very well organized, as you talk about kind of the alliance in the administration and how supportive everyone is and the fan base and donors and things,” DeVries said. “They have it in a really good place.”

As far as the overhaul of Indiana's roster, DeVries had this to say about what he and his staff has put together.

"We like the way the roster came together," DeVries said. "We added a lot of quality shooters, which is a priority for us. We were also able to bring in good positional size and great depth. We like the way the pieces will all connect and the versatility we will be able to play with. They can complement each other on the floor."

Jon Rothstein's topics included getting snubbed from the NCAA Tournament, DeVries’ decision to leave West Virginia, roster building, the transfer portal, scheduling, and much more.
