Updated ESPN FPI Rankings — Where Indiana Stands After 2-0 Start

ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) moved up the Indiana Hoosiers from 30th to 16th in the latest FPI rankings this week. The Football Power Index also boosted Indiana's College Football Playoff chances to 22.8%, up from 7.4% last week.

ESPN states that its Football Power Index "is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 20,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.

The computer models are showing us exactly what we expected to see following two wins over lesser opponents. Indiana doesn't have too much a longer of a wait to go before getting back to where they want to be with a home game against No. 9 Illinois at home. That game will be the measuring stick of the season early on for the Hoosiers program.
