Indiana men’s basketball coach Darian DeVries has zero players left on his roster but he is making a splasg in the coaching department with two more hires, adding Ryan Horn and Nick Norton to his Indiana coaching staff reported first by Hoosiers On SI

Nick Norton will join DeVries’ staff as director of player development and assistant coach. Ryan Horn will join the staff as strength and conditioning coach. Both Norton and Horn worked under DeVries at West Virginia and at Drake.

Norton, Horn and Darian DeVries helped guide the Drake Bulldogs to an 80-26 (.755) overall record with two NCAA Tournament appearances and two Missouri Valley Conference titles.

Horn previously spent eight years working with Danny Manning at Tulsa from 2012-14 and at Wake Forest from 2014-20. The Demon Deacons reached the NCAA Tournament in 2017 and had a pair of NBA players in Jaylen Hoard and John Collins as well as All-ACC selection Olivier Sarr.

“Nick is a hard worker who brings great enthusiasm and tremendous energy to our basketball program,” DeVries said when Norton was announced at West Virginia a year ago. “He always has a great rapport with our players and has a strong basketball IQ. Nick fits our basketball staff and our program extremely well.”

Nick Norton started his college career at UAB from (2014-18), making 97 starts for the Blazers. He was named All-Conference USA Third Team as a sophomore, averaging 8.9 points and 5.5 assists per game. Norton's last season was one lone year at Drake as a grad transfer, averaged 14.0 points, 5.9 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game under Darian DeVries.

In 2019, Norton signed with the South Bay Lakers of the NBA G League, appearing in two games before stepping away due to injuries.  His father, Randy, is the head women’s basketball coach at UAB.

DeVries now has at least 12 scholarships to offer with all the recent transfer, Luke Goode's eligibility for next season is still under review from the NCAA.
