Indiana Football Interested in Offering Four-Star Purdue De-Commit
Downey (Calif.) quarterback Oscar Rios announced this week that he has de-committed from the Purdue Boilermakers football program in the wake of the slow start this season at 1-3 and firing of offensive coordinator Graham Harrell.
The four-star, top-300 prospect originally committed to Purdue back on June 21st. 247 Sports national composite ranks Rios as a top-20 quarterback in the 2026 class. Numerous other Power Four programs have offered including the likes of: Auburn, Arizona, Cal, Kansas, Nebraska, UNLV, Oregon State, Virginia Tech and Washington.
Rios did not specify a reason for his de-commitment in his post on x.,com. He did mention "my guy Coach Harrell for believing in me" among the Purdue coaches he thanked, which also included Walters, receivers coach Cory Patterson and senior offensive analyst Stanton Keane.
Indiana football has not offered Rios in the 2026 class just yet but I believe they will be highly interested in snagging the California native soon, with their lack of depth at the quarterback postion and they also do not have a signal caller rated as high as Rios in the 2025 or 2026 class just yet so it's something to keep an eye out for in the near future.
Indiana Hoosiers head coach Curt Cignetti is off to a good start at Indiana, with a 5-0 start to the season and the Hoosiers landing the 28th-best transfer portal class, according to 247Sports.com.
However, if he can land a big name like Rios it would drastically help this Hoosier football program from a recruiting standpoint, espically landing a Southern California native and flipping Rios from a rival like Purdue.
