Part Two of football scouting director Bill Carroll's Q&A with Donovan James of Hoosiers State of Mind
Who is Bill Carroll in the football industry?
Carroll is the Director of HBCU Scouting. He is also the CDS Scouting and Vlogger/draft expert forNuts and Bolts Sports. NFL Draft Expert William “Bill” Carroll is now in his fourth decade as a published writer. The Answer Newspaper first carried Bill’s sports column over 35 years ago. Additionally William Bill Carroll, or “Bill Carroll” is a published poet, playwright and military historian.
Bill Carroll is a founding member of MPAACT, and has written for: Black Sports Online, Football Reporters Online and oversaw HBCU Scouting for Consensus Draft Services. Currently Consensus Draft Services was in a content providing relationship with www.fanspeak.com.
Don James: Do you believe that Indiana quarterback, Kurtis Rourke will be a finalist or at least on the ballot for the 2024 Heisman Trophy?
Bill Carroll: I do believe he's still fifth as of today on most ballots and I think he should get an invite to New York, if they beat Ohio State on the road he is a lock to be there. Rourke will be on the ballot at least with a lack of true top end Heisman contenders this year. Hunter, Jeanty, Gabriel and Ward are the only players in front of the Canadian native.
Don James: Who are the key players to watch in the Ohio State versus Indiana game for the Hoosiers on Saturday afternoon?
Bill Carroll: Mikial Kamara and James Carpenter up front on defense are the key players to watch for IU on Saturday against, Ohio State in the trenches. IU needs to be steady and dominate up front something they struggled with against Michigan in their only close game. The Hoosiers needs to also keep Jack Sawyer and J.T Tuimoloau quiet on the other side of the ball too, so IU's offensive line play as a whole will be key.
Don James: Do you see Indiana pulling off the upset this weekend in Columbus against Ohio State?
Bill Carroll: IU needs 2-3 big splash plays over 20 yards to truly contend and they needs a big boost on special teams where I believe they have a slight edge as well. If they win in the trenches, turnover battle and special teams I believe they win this ball game against Ohio State on the road.
