I sat down with a longtime friend and a mentor of mine, Bill Carroll to talk about the 2024 Indiana Hoosiers and all things football.

Who is Bill Carroll in the football industry?

Carroll is the Director of HBCU Scouting. He is also the CDS Scouting and Vlogger/draft expert for Nuts and Bolts Sports.

This is part one of our two part interview with Bill Carroll presented by Hoosiers State of Mind:

Don James: What do you make of Curt Cignetti leading Indiana to their best season in school history in year one?

Bill Carroll: I love coach Cignetti and what he's done with the IU program so far. He truly gets culture building and is basically if Pete Carroll and Jim Harbaugh had a coaching baby.

Don James: You were a fan of the James Madison transfers that made their way to Bloomington before they played a down at Indiana. What has helped the transfers be instant stars at the Power 4 level?

Bill Carroll: They were elite in high school and elite at James Madison Univ and there style of play fits the B1G and obviously Cignetti's scheme.

Don James: Is Indiana a legit playoff contender and national title threat in your eyes this season?

Bill Carroll: Yes, Indiana is 100% the real deal and a title contender. If they win in the trenches on defense, control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and win the turnover battle they can beat anyone in the country.

Don James: What do you make of senior quarterback Kurtis Rourke?

Bill Carroll: Rourke is currently No. 5 on most ballots, but if they run the table, he's in NYC for the Heisman. I have been a big fan of Kurtis for awhile since his days as an Ohio Bobcat. I see Rourke as a better version of Taylor Heineke, late second-mid to late 3rd, depending upon his measurements and testing.

Don James: Who are your top ten quarterback prospects heading into the 2025 NFL Draft in this years class?

Bill Carroll: Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward, Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders*, Quinn Ewers, Jaxson Dart, Garrett Nussmeier, Dillon Gabriel, Kurtis Rourke, Drew Allar, Jalen Milroe and Carson Beck.

There are some sleepers in this class though, Hayes King, Taylen Green, Kyle McCord and Maverick McIvor.

Stay tuned for part two of the interview with Bill Carroll next week with Donovan James and Hooisers State of Mind. #NeverDaunted
