Former Hoosier WR Omar Cooper Jr. was selected by the New York Jets with the 30th overall pick back in April in the 2026 NFL Draft. His NFL career got off to a rough start, as he battled injuries during training camp and landed on IR after Week 1.
But he made a huge statement last week in his return by bringing in 6 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown. His first-career NFL touchdown came on a 48-yard strike from Geno Smith in the 3rd quarter.
After such an impressive performance last week, Cooper didn't miss a beat and picked up right where he left off in Week 7. This pas Sunday, Cooper turned heads once again by collecting 5 catches for 115 yards and a touchdown. Cooper's efforts helped fuel the New York offense and solidify his role as a key playmaker in the receiving game.
With back-to-back eye-popping performances, Cooper's name is now etched into the history books in more ways than one. He is the first rookie WR in Jets franchise history to post back-to-back 100-yard games with a touchdown. Furthermore, Cooper is the only NFL WR player over the last 40 years to have multiple games with 100+ receiving yards and a touchdown over the course of his first three career games.

The Jets may have found their WR2 in Omar Cooper Jr.
With standout performances over the last two weeks, Cooper is proving he can consistently make an impact and deliver big plays in the New York passing game. If he keeps this momentum going, he could be in for big numbers the rest of the season.
The Jets have been desperately searching for a WR2 to play alongside Garrett Wilson for the past several years. But that has proven to be a tough task. If the last two weeks are any indication, Cooper can be the man for that job.
Cooper's ability to stretch the field and make explosive plays gives the Jets another legitimate threat in the passing game. He has elite athleticism, and has a strong ability to rack up yards after the catch.
Playing alongside Wilson could also be advantageous for Cooper, as Wilson will naturally draw the majority of attention from opposing defenses. That could open the door for Cooper to continue seeing a steady workload moving forward.
Cooper and the Jets are next in action this coming Sunday, November 1 with a home matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders have allowed opposing wide receivers to collect eight total touchdowns over the last four weeks, so Cooper could be poised for another strong outing. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. ET.
