After spending two seasons with the Indiana Hoosiers, sophomore forward Mackenzie Mgbako announced Monday that he would be officially entering the transfer portal.

A new update has happen as transfer portal news moves quickly in the new era on college sports. Oklahoma Sooners men's basketball and Mackenzie Mgbako have met via zoom about a possible transfer to Norman, Oklahoma according to 247SportsPortal

A 2023 McDonald’s All-American, Mgbako was the Big Ten freshman of the year in the 2023-24 season for the Hoosiers.

As a freshman Mgbako he averaged 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 27.1 minutes of action.

As a sophomore at Indiana this past season, the 6-foot-9 forward averaged 12.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 25.1 minutes per game.

With the recent hiring of head coach Darian DeVries, Indiana has now lost three players to the transfer portal. Mackenzie Mgbako was the final starter left at Indiana with Trey Galloway and Oumar Ballo out of eligibility. Forward Malik Reneau and guard Gabe Cupps are also headed into the transfer portal, and senior Luke Goode is trying to get a hardship waiver for a fifth year of eligibility, but as of right now can't come back until he is granted that. Indiana is also losing senior Anthony Leal, due to eligibility as well.

Oklahoma has a total of three transfers Jacolb Fredson-Cole, powerr forward Luke Northweather and center Yaya Keita all entered the portal after losing in the first round to UConn.

Jalon Moore, Sam Godwin, Glenn Taylor Jr., Kobe Elvis and Brycen Goodine are all out of eligibility and OU is likely to lose Jeremiah Fears to the NBA Draft so if Mgabko decides to transfer to OU he would get olenty of playing time and likely be the star for the Sooners squad in 2025-26.
