Shay Ciezki put together a sensational senior season for the Indiana Hoosiers that saw her earn All-Big Ten First Team honors from the media and Big Ten All Second Team honors from the conference's coaches.
Her 2025-26 stat line consisted of 22.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3,1 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Furthermore, her 708 total points ranked 2nd in the Big Ten and 14th nationally, while her three-point percentage of 44.6% led the Big Ten and ranked 6th in the country. She also shot an astounding 90.8% from the free throw line.
After such a strong season to close out her college career, Ciezki was expected to hear her name called in Monday's WNBA Draft. In fact, ESPN's Michael Voepel projected that Ciezki would be selected in the third round with the No. 40 overall pick by the Indiana Fever.
Unfortunately, Ciezki was not selected by any WNBA franchise in the draft, but she is still making her way to the league via free agency.
Indiana standout Shay Ciezki signs free agent deal with Phoenix Mercury
According to The Daily Hoosier, Ciezki is en route to Phoenix to sign a free agent deal with the Mercury. There, she will participate in the team's training camp with the start of the 2026 WNBA preseason just a few weeks away.

It was a bit surprising to see Ciezki get snubbed from the WNBA Draft. She was one of the most dynamic guards in the country this past season, and her 22.8 points per game set a new program record for the Hoosiers. Furthermore, she was just the second NCAA Division I women’s basketball player to record 50/40/90 shooting splits while averaging 20+ points per game.
Now, she will head to Phoenix with a chip on her shoulder looking to make the roster out of training camp. Phoenix's first preseason game is slated for Saturday, April 25 against Chicago.
She is more than capable of earning a roster spot, and Hoosier fans are hoping to see her make the cut for the start of the season.
