After going 18-11 overall and 9-11 in Big Ten play last season, the Indiana Hoosiers ultimately missed the NCAA Tournament in Darian DeVries' first season in Bloomington. Looking to lead a much better campaign in his second season, DeVries has utilized the transfer portal heavily and brought in a talented group of incoming freshmen.
Heading into August, Indiana's 2026-27 men's basketball roster is now complete. Here's a look at each player and what they bring to the table.
Trevor Manhertz: incoming freshman
Trevor Manhertz is a 6'7" 185-pound forward from Cary, NC. He has great length, and can knock down shots from the outside, which should make for a solid fit in DeVries' offensive system. Manhertz has already made a strong impression this summer at the FISU America Games, and could be on track to fit in Indiana's frontcourt rotation.
Darren Harris: Duke transfer
Darren Harris saw limited playing time over his first two seasons of college basketball at Duke. But that should change in his junior season at Indiana. Harris, a 6'5" 195-pound guard, is an excellent scorer and was widely-regarded as one of the best shooters in the country coming out of high school. He figures to see significant playing time at one of the wing positions, and his bigger role could lead to a breakout season.
Bryce Lindsay: Villanova transfer
Villanova transfer Bryce Lindsay is a three-point sharp-shooter. He spent one season each at Texas A&M, James Madison, and Villanova, and has built up quite the three-point shooting resume. Lindsay owns a career three-point shooting percentage of 37.7%, and has knocked down a strong 38.2% of his three-point attempts over the last two seasons. He is a high-volume three-point shot-taker, as 65% of his career shot attempts have come from behind the arc.
Jaeden Mustaf: Georgia Tech transfer
Former Georgia Tech shooting guard Jaeden Mustaf was the first portal addition of the offseason for Indiana in April. Mustaf averaged 10.4 points per game and shot 49.3% from the floor for the Yellow Jackets this past season. He comes to Bloomington with 55 appearances and 33 starts under his belt over his two seasons with the Yellow Jackets. Mustaf owns a solid 6'6" 210-pound frame, and rebounds well for a shooting guard. He averaged 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 offensive rebounds per game in 2025-26. He doesn't shoot a ton of three-pointers, but his more physical style of play on the wings figures to make for a great complement to the skill sets of Harris and Lindsay.
Markus Burton: Notre Dame transfer
Markus Burton comes to Indiana after three impressive seasons at Notre Dame. Burton was among the ACC's top scorers during his time in South Bend. He earned ACC Rookie of the Year honors after leading all ACC freshmen with 17.5 points per game in 2023-24. He then led the entire conference with 21.3 points per game as a sophomore in 2024-25. He then averaged 18.5 points over 10 games this past season before suffering a season-ending ankle injury. Burton is in line to be Indiana's starting point guard, and he can help replace the scoring production that Lamar Wilkerson brought to the table last year.
Prince-Alexander Moody: incoming freshman
Prince-Alexander Moody is a 4-star combo guard from Bishop McNamara in Baltimore. He's made a strong early statement in the FISU America Games, and could be slated to be Indiana's back-up point guard playing behind Burton. He plays with a ton of energy, has great athleticism and versatility, and can make things happen from any spot on the floor. Development is still needed, but there's no denying that Moody has a very high ceiling at Indiana.
Trent Sisley: returner
Trent Sisley returns to Indiana after an up-and-down freshman campaign. In total, he averaged 4.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game while seeing 13.1 minutes of playing time per contest as a rookie. After a strong start to the season, Sisley played just 8.5 minutes per game after December 20, averaging just 1.6 points per game in that stretch. Eyeing more consistency, Sisley will likely get plenty of opportunities in IU's frontcourt as a sophomore.
Vaughn Karvala: incoming freshman
Vaughn Karvala begins his college basketball career as the highest-ranked recruit in Indiana's 2026 recruiting class. Karvala was the No. 67 overall player and No. 22 forward in the country for the 2026 recruiting cycle. He is originally from Wisconsin, but played his final year of high school basketball at national powerhouse Bella Vista Prep in Arizona. Karvala has extreme athleticism and is a highlight reel waiting to happen. Hoosier fans have a lot to be excited about with this 6'6" 175-pound playmaker.
Aiden Sherrell: Alabama transfer
Indiana's highest-ranked portal addition comes in the form of former Alabama power forward Aiden Sherrell. Rated by On3Â as a 4-star transfer player, Sherrell was heralded as the No. 15 overall player in on the market at the time of his commitment to IU. Owning a 6'11" 255-pound frame, Sherrell averaged 11.1 points per game while shooting 53.9% from the floor this past season with the Crimson Tide. He was effective on the glass on both ends of the floor, as he averaged 6.8 total rebounds per game and 2.4 offensive rebounds per game last season. He can also provide elite shot-blocking, as he finished 2nd in the SEC averaging 2.2 blocks per game. Sherrell is a force to be reckoned with, and his move from Tuscaloosa to Bloomington is a big win for DeVries and company.
Samet Yigitoglu: SMU transfer
Along with Sherrell, Indiana's frontcourt got a major boost with the addition of former SMU center Samet Yigitoglu. The 7'2" center can be the true center that the Hoosiers desperately missed last season. Yigitoglu was one of the most coveted big men in the portal after averaging 10.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting an impressive 62.8% from the floor last season. He instantly becomes a top rebounding threat for Indiana.
Sam Alexis: returner
Sam Alexis returns to Indiana thanks to an eligibility ruling from U.S. District Court judge Charlotte Sweeney in Colorado on Friday night. The decision granted a preliminary injunction to plaintiffs challenging the NCAA’s new age-based eligibility rule, giving athletes in the high school Class of 2022 another year of eligibility. Alexis appeared in 32 games with 23 starts and averaged 8.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game last year with the Hoosiers. His returns brings valuable depth to Indiana's frontcourt.
Clemens Sokolov: incoming freshman
German 7-foot center Clemens Sokolov did not participate in the FISU America Games with Indiana, but he is expected to join the team in the coming weeks. He played for VR-Bank Wurzburg Baskets Akademie in the third division of the German basketball league system last season, and also has experience playing for Germany in the FIBA U17 World Cup in 2024 and the FIBA U18 World Cup in 2025.
Justin Monden: Maryland Eastern Shore transfer
Transfer point guard Justin Monden comes to Indiana from Maryland Eastern Shore. He averaged 6.0 points, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 rebounds per game across 32 contests for the Hawks last season. Coming off the bench, the 6'0" guard shot 40.1% from the floor, 27.0% from beyond the arc, and 72.2% from the free throw line. He can be considered a depth piece for Indiana's new-look backcourt.
