You have to take care of the people who take care of you. While Lamar Wilkerson has been utterly sensational during his lone season in the Indiana backcourt, he made senior night even more special for somebody else. Yes, Wilkerson suprised his mother with a Cadillac Escalade paid for with his NIL earnings. Wilkerson came to Indiana after spending the last three seasons playing for Sam Houston.

Here is the viral clip of Wilkerson's mother being surprised with the Escalade in a parking garage.

On the evening, Wilkerson had 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor, including 4-of-7 from distance. He had two assists and two rebounds in Indiana's 77-47 bludgeoning over the Minnesota Golden Gophers on senior night. This goes down as a Quad 2 home win for Indiana, helping the Hoosiers improve their record to 18-12 on the season and 9-10 in league play to make the tourney.

Even though Wilkerson has been Indiana's best player all season, he made Wednesday about Mom...

There is no way around it. This was the epitome of a gotta-have-it game for Indiana. Had the Hoosiers lost at home on senior night, their chances of making the field of 68 would have gone kaputt... ESPN's Joe Lunardi has had the Hoosiers as his last team in over the course of his last two Bracketology updates. A win here by Indiana over Minnesota has set up a win-or-go-home game vs. Ohio State.

With Wilkerson knocking down four more 3-pointers, he creeps even closer to Steve Alford's record for the most made in a season. On the year, Wilkerson is averaging 21.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. While he did not match any of his season averages in that regard, keep in mind that it was senior night at home in a blowout. Wilkerson did not play his full allotment of minutes either...

Overall, Wilkerson still played a fine game in his own right. Indiana had a chance to breeze past Minnesota in this one anyway. More importantly, he had a big surprise for his mom brewing in and around the game. Had senior night been at home vs. Ohio State in a must-win game for the Hoosiers, things may have gone differently. This is one of those games where Indiana won before tipoff began.

Ultimately, Wilkerson's gift to his mom is what NIL is really all about. This is a guy who played junior college basketball before spending three years at Sam Houston. To be able to transfer to Indiana and potentially help drag Darian DeVries' team into the NCAA Tournament is a testament that he is about the grind. The sacrifices his mom had to make for him to get to this point are certainly innumerable.

Again, anytime you can blow your parents' minds with gratitude and thoughtfulness is always special.
