Kyle Schwarber can't stop hitting home runs.
The former Indiana slugger has been among the best power hitters in all of baseball throughout his career, and he entered the 2026 season with plenty of expectations once again. But not many saw this start coming.
Kyle Schwarber continues power surge to set MLB record
On Friday night against the Pirates, Schwarber orchestrated a two-homer night that gave him his 19th and 20th home runs of the season.
Thanks to that performance, Schwarber reached the 20-home run mark on May 15, which give him an impressive MLB record. May 15 is the earliest date any player in MLB history has reached 20 home runs. The previous record belonged to Luis Gonzalez of the Arizona Diamondbacks, who collected his 20th home run of the season on May 17. Schwarber beat him by two days.

Furthermore, Schwarber is just the eighth player in MLB history to blast 20 home runs in the first 45 games of the season. His impressive start just continues to get better and better.
Kyle Schwarber is on a historic hot streak
The Philadelphia slugger has now hit a home run in seven of his last eight games. He has nine total home runs in that span, which has cemented his lead at the top of the MLB home run standings.
Schwarber entered the 2026 campaign with 340 career home runs to his name. Now up to 20 dingers on the season, Schwarber is now up to 360 home runs in his MLB career and is on pace to flirt with a 70-home run season.
He is also just 40 long balls away from joining Major League Baseball's 400 home run club. Throughout the history of the sport, only 59 MLB players have joined the prestigious 400 home run club. The most recent addition was Mike Trout last season, and now Schwarber has his eyes set on entering his name into the conversation.
On the season, Schwarber is now hitting .237 with an OPS of 1.010. Along with his 20 home runs, he has also collected 35 RBIs. He led all of baseball with 132 RBIs last season, and is now poised to put together another sensational season at the plate.
If he stays on his current pace, the Middletown, OH native has a chance to make history in more ways than one. Indiana baseball fans are pumped up to see what he can do throughout the rest of the 2026 campaign.
