Former Hoosier baseball star Kyle Schwarber continues to set the world on fire in 2026. After leading all of baseball with 56 home runs last season, Schwarber is putting together an even better campaign so far this season.
Over the weekend, Schwarber homered in back-to-back games against the Cardinals. His dramatic walk-off home run in Sunday's contest delivered one of the top moments of the MLB season thus far. It also moved Schwarber further up MLB's all-time home run leaderboard.

On Sunday, the Phillies entered the bottom of the 9th inning trailing the Cardinals 4-0. An eye-popping rally then transpired, and Schwarber came to the plate with the game tied 4-4. In a 2-2 count with the Phillies down to their last out, Schwarber did what he does best.
He belted a 98mph sinker over the batter's eye in centerfield to hand the Phillies a 6-4 win. The ball traveled a whopping 459 feet and gave the Phillies their 9th consecutive victory. Schwarber is now up to 39 home runs on the season, which leads all of baseball.

With that dramatic blast, Schwarber now has 379 home runs to his name in his 12-year MLB career. It helped him pass Matt Williams on MLB's all-time home run list, and Schwarber now is tied for 80th on that historic leaderboard. Next up is Albert Belle, who ranks 79th with 381 home runs in his career.

Now up to an MLB-leading 39 home runs so far this season, Schwarber is poised to reach and exceed that number over the last month and half of the 2026 MLB regular season. He is pushing to break his career-best total of 56 homers from last year, and could even reach for another impressive milestone as well.

With 379 homers to his name in his career, Schwarber needs 21 more long balls to join MLB's 400-home run club. In all of baseball history, that exclusive club has just 59 members. The most recent addition was Mike Trout in 2024. With 31 more games to go, hitting 21 homers in 31 games is certainly a tall task, but it's probably best to not doubt what Schwarber can do.
Since coming to Philadelphia in 2022, Schwarber has now blasted 226 home runs in 752 games, and has averaged 46 home runs per season. With that in mind, i's safe to say that the Red Sox deeply regret letting Schwarber walk in free agency following the 2021 season.
Heading into the home stretch of the 2026 season, Schwarber's efforts have played a big part in Philadelphia owning a 2-game lead over San Diego for the second wild card spot in the National League. Hoosier fans are eager to see what Schwarber can pull off the rest of the way.
