Indiana mounts monster second half comeback to defeat Nebraska in Big Ten Tournament
Trailing by 17 points at the break, Moren needed to make some adjustments to get things back on track. Nebraska's Amiah Hargrove and Britt Prince were doing damage left and right during the first 20 minutes, as Hargrove scored 19 points while Prince had 13 of her own in the first half. However, they were both extremely limited in the second half.
Hargrove managed to score just two more points throughout the contest, while Prince was limited to seven points in the second half. The Hoosiers were down as many as 18 points in the 3rd quarter, but the effective defensive adjustments on Hargrove and Prince allowed IU to mount a monster comeback.
IU trailed for 58 minutes, but a three-pointer from Lenee Beaumont with 1:06 left to go gave the Hoosiers the lead. They would never give it back, surviving multiple last-minute attempts from Nebraska to hang on for the three-point win.
Shay Ciezki paced the Hoosiers with 22 points, which gives her 21 games with at least 20 points on the season. Nevaeh Caffey scored nine points in the 4th quarter alone to help lead the comeback.
The Hoosiers are now set to battle the No. 11 ranked and 5th-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes on Thursday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m ET. Hoosier fans are hoping Moren's squad can keep the momentum rolling an pull off an upset win over the Buckeyes to advance to the quarterfinals.
