Injury Report: Quarterback Kurtis Rourke will attempt to play next weekend
Indiana senior star quarterback Kurtis Rourke has officially been ruled out against the Washington Huskies in today's game.
During ESPN’s live College GameDay broadcast, Pete Thamel said Rourke will attempt to play next weekend when the Hoosiers travel to the Michigan State Spartans.
“Considering Kurtis Rourke had thumb surgery on Monday, the situation couldn’t have played out better,” Thamel said. “He had two small screws put in the top of his thumb. He is expected to attempt to come back next week against Michigan State.”
Rourke injured the thumb on this throwing hand during the first half of Indiana's 56-7 win against Nebraska last weekend.
Redshirt sophomore Tayven Jackson will start in Rourke’s place against Washington.
Jackson who started five games for the Hoosiers in 2023. Jackson completed 7-of-8 passes and led four touchdown drives
Rourke, 23, is in his first season at Indiana after starting the previous three years at Ohio. He has completed 74.6 percent of his passes for 1,941 yards with 15 touchdowns and three interceptions in seven starts for the Hoosiers, who lead the nation with 48.7 points per game.
