The Indiana Hoosiers women's basketball team improved to 4-0 on the year with an 76-72 win over the Florida State Seminoles at the Donald L. Tucker Center on Sunday evening in Tallahassee, Florida.
Redshirt sophomore guard Lenée Beaumont and senior guard Shay Ciezki were the top point scorers with 23 and 22 points, respectively. Sophomore forward Zania Socka-Nguemen had her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Florida State was without its leading scorer in Solé Williams in last night's matchup. The junior guard averaged 17.5 points per game throughout the Seminoles’ first four games, but she suffered a minor injury that kept her out of Sunday’s game.
“It could’ve gone one of two ways: we could’ve done what we did, or we could have kind of folded, because we’re on the road and not performed at the level that we needed to, to be able to come back in the game,” Moren said after the game. “It tells me that we have a chance with this group to continue to grow and get better.”
Teri Moren’s team was coming off a rough win last week against Marshall, 57-51. The fact that Moren's squad stepped their games up to win was highly impressive.
Up next for the Indiana Hoosiers they travel back home and take on Butler on Wednesday, Nov. 19. Tip time is set for 7 p.m. ET, the game will stream on Big Ten+.
Florida State (3-2) will travel to Gainesville, Fla. for a meeting with Florida on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m., which will be streamed on the SEC Network.
