2026 four-star quarterback Brodie McWhorter was recently met with a visit from new Indiana co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Chandler Whitmer.

McWhorter a 6-foot-2, 197-pound signal-caller from Cartersville (GA) Cass H.S. the No. 37 ranked prospect in the state of Georgia, the 21st rated quarterback and rated as the No. 314 best overall player in the 2026 recruiting class per 247Sports Composite.

The Georgia native originally chose West Virginia over offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, Louisville, Michigan State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, NC State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, Purdue, TCU, UCF, USF, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, and several others but backed off his pledge when former Mouatineer head coach Neal Brown was fired.

Here's what McWhorter said about Indiana's 2024 success:

"What sticks out the most is how in year one Coach Cignetti came in and proved himself," he said about the 2024 IU season. "Week after week they would get doubted and they would still carry on and shock the world and move on like nothing happened."

"My junior season got cut early in game four when I was on pace for a huge season with around 1200 yards of total offense, 14 touchdowns, and a 72% completion percentage due to a broken fibula," McWhorter said about his junior year. "Before I got injured I would say I improved the most on keeping my eyes down field while still escaping pressure.""
McWhorter told 247Sports

Chandler Whitmer who previously coached in Atlanta for the Falcons offensive quality control assistant and quarterback coach will bring a new offense to IU and will look to bring his own quarterback for the 2026 class.

His one season in Atlanta included the development of Penix Jr., who was the team’s first-round draft choice in 2024. Whitmer helped Penix Jr. move into the starting quarterback role in Week 16

Hopefully IU can land McWhorter as he is one of the highest offered QB's in the class.
