There's no denying that Curt Cignetti has the Indiana football program cooking. The Hoosiers began the new year with a historic National Championship and brought in plenty of reinforcements for next season though the transfer portal. In addition, Cignetti signed a top-20 recruiting class for 2026 and inked multiple 2027 recruits.

But Indiana's 2027 recruiting class suffered a tough blow on Thursday with the decommitment of a talented 4-star WR.

4-star WR Ja'Hyde Brown decommits from Indiana

According to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals, 2027 WR Ja'Hyde Brown has decommitted from Indiana. Hailing from Christian Academy of Louisville, Brown is ranked as the No. 7 overall player in Kentucky and the No. 49 wide receiver in the country for the 2027 class according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He has been committed to Cignetti and the Hoosiers since January 10, but will now be searching for a new home to begin his college football career.

Brown is one of the most sought-after wide receivers in the country, and his current list of offers sits at 27. Among teams vying for his services are Alabama, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Auburn, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Purdue, among others.

Owning a 5'10" 186-pound frame, Brown is described by 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins as a "dynamic offensive weapon that has proven to be a chunk-play machine as he creates after the catch with his vision, burst and agility."

He owns a dynamic skill set that makes him a big play threat every time he touches the ball. Last year during his junior season, Brown led the entire state of Kentucky in receptions (98), receiving yards (1,556) and receiving touchdowns (24).

With Brown's decommitment, Indiana's 2027 recruiting class now features four players: 4-star CB Monsanna Torbert Jr, 3-star QB Jameson Purcell, 3-star S Garyon Hobbs, and 3-star OT Jeremiah Jones. The class falls from No. 20 to No. 23 in the country with Brown no longer in the picture.
