As first reported by the IndyStar Indiana starting safety Louis Moore will be eligible to play in the Hoosiers first two games of the season, but his status for the rest of the 2025 remains up in the air.

Louis Moore, a 24-year-old safety who has started games at both Ole Miss and Indiana, is suing the NCAA for another year of eligibility so he can finish his playing career with the Hoosiers, arguing that his time at Navarro Junior college in Texas should not count against him,” Heather Dinich of ESPN wrote.

According to Louis Moore's lawsuit and his attorney Brian Lauten, Moore would lose out on a “one-in-a-lifetime” name, image, and likeness contract worth $400,000 if he wasn't allowed to play in 2025, and miss an opportunity to “enhance his career and reputation by playing another year of Division I football at an NCAA major conference university that likely extends beyond the direct financial returns.”

Moore originally signed with the Hoosiers in 2022 after attending Navarro (Texas) College from 2019-21 (the 2020 season was canceled in the COVID-19 pandemic season). He then returned to Bloomington after spending last season playing at Ole Miss.

Moore played in 24 regular season games, he had 93 tackles, 3 interceptions, 5 forced fumbles, 2 touchdowns and 3 forced fumbles in his two years in Bloomington.

In 2024 at Ole Miss, Moore had 33 tackles (14 solo) with one pass breakup in 10 games under coach Lane Kiffin.

Judge Dale Tillery granted Louis Moore a 14-day extension of his (TRO) a Temporary Restraining Order against the NCAA, allowing him to remain eligible until the conclusion of the legal proceedings. The TRO will remain in place until a follow-up hearing occurs on September 10th.

Moore is now eligible to play against Old Dominion, Saturday and against Kennesaw State University on Sept. 6.
