When Darian DeVries took over at the helm of the Indiana basketball program, Hoosier fans had high hopes for IU's scoring prowess. During his time at Drake, DeVries constructed rosters that could put up points in a hurry. DeVries' system relies on moving the ball well, playing with pace and space, and emphasizing early shot-hunting and high-volume three-point shooting.
Indiana showed flashes of that this season, but it was few and far between. Instead, the Hoosiers played at an extremely slow pace and were far too reliant on Lamar Wilkerson to generate offense. Plus, the scoring depth behind him was seriously lacking.
Indiana's three-point shooting was also inconsistent, as the Hoosiers finished the season ranked 9th in the Big Ten with a three-point shooting percentage of 34.7%. However, DeVries' latest portal addition can help change that in 2026-27.
Indiana adds sharp-shooter Bryce Lindsay via the transfer portal
On Wednesday evening, Villanova transfer Bryce Lindsay committed to Indiana. He is the sixth portal addition for DeVries and the Hoosiers joining shooting guard Jaeden Mustaf from Georgia Tech, guard Darren Harris from Duke, point guard Markus Burton from Notre Dame, center Samet Yigitoglu from SMU, and power forward Aiden Sherrell from Alabama.

Lindsay is the three-point sharp-shooter DeVries has been looking for. He owns a career three-point percentage of 37.7% after spending one season each at Texas A&M, James Madison, and Villanova. He's been especially effective over the last two seasons, knocking down 38.2% of his 6.8 three-point attempts per game. In total, 65% of his career shot attempts have come from behind the arc.
This past season, Lindsay averaged 12.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game with Villanova. In 2024-25, he averaged 13.4 points per game, which set a James Madison program record for points per game by a freshman. He also added 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game en route to winning Sun Belt Freshman of the Year honors at James Madison. He was also the conference's Sixth Man of the Year.
Lindsay put together a strong performance in the biggest game of the season for the Wildcats, as he led Villanova with 25 points in the Round of 64 of the NCAA Tournament against Utah State on March 20. He went 9-for-18 (50%) from the field and knocked down six of his 11 three-point attempts (54.5%).
Hailing from Baltimore, MD, the 6'3" 195-pound guard was listed as a redshirt sophomore this past season for Villanova. He's played three collegiate seasons, but appeared in just eight games as a true freshman at Texas A&M in 2023-24. That means he will likely be pursuins a medical redshirt for an extra year of eligibility at some point.
