Indiana senior quarterback Kurtis Rourke played his way out of the Heisman Trophy race with season-low numbers in the Hoosiers' first loss of the season Saturday at Ohio State.
The Hoosiers prior to the Ohio State loss were averaging 43.9 points, while Rourke had a QBR of 88.9 which was second in the nation behind Cam Ward of Miami.
Indiana was held to a poor day on offense with 151 total yards and finished with a season-low 15 points. Kurtis Rourke was sacked five times, and he completed just 8-of-18 passes for 68 yards, no touchdowns, no interceptions and one fumble, his QBR was a season low 42.6.
As far as what Rourke said about the loss to Ohio State, he is moving on quickly.
You've got to be close to perfect in order to beat a team like this," Rourke said on Saturday
"We're going to have a chance to play a lot of similar teams like that. Knowing that, we can't have the mistakes. We've got to be on our game for the whole game. It's a good learning opportunity. But we've got to be able to move on now and not have any more learning opportunities." per SportsNet
The latest Heisman Trophy Odds include: (-750), Travis Hunter, (+600), Ashton Jeanty, (+1,110) Cam Ward and (+6,000) Dillion Gabriel per FanDuel Sportsbook
Rourke should be able to bounce back against (1-10) Purdue this upcoming weekend at home on Senior Day but will it be enough to get him on the Heisman ballot in two weeks?
