Curt Cignetti has changed what's possible in the world of Indiana football recruiting in a major way. After leading arguably the greatest turnaround in sports history, Cignetti has the Hoosiers well-positioned to land the nation's top prospects. Cignetti also has a great eye for talent, and an effective plan in place to develop that talent. No matter how you slice it, Indiana football recruiting is in good hands with Cignetti leading the way.
Back on July 23, Cignetti secured a big recruiting victory when 2028 4-star QB Lukas Prock pledged his allegiance to the Hoosiers. Hailing from Princeton, NJ, Prock is one of the biggest names in the 2028 recruiting cycle. He chose Indiana over a list of other finalists that included Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Florida, and remains IU's lone commit for the 2028 cycle.
Indiana commit Lukas Prock continues to climb national recruiting rankings
Playing for Hun High School in New Jersey, Prock is off to a sensational start to his junior season. Through seven games, the 6'2" 195-pound gunslinger has thrown for 2,688 yards and 27 touchdowns with just three interceptions. He's also completing an impressive 72.6% of his passes. Prock's strong start is turning heads, and has led to him skyrocketing up the national recruiting rankings.
On Wednesday afternoon, 247Sports released its updated Top247 Recruiting Rankings for the 2028 class. Prock is now ranked as the No. 59 overall player and No. 4 quarterback in the 2028 recruiting class. That gives him an eye-popping 45-spot jump from the previous rankings released back in the summer. Prock is now the second-highest rated commit in IU football program history.

Prock threw for 4,330 yards and 41 touchdowns with seven interceptions during his breakout sophomore season a year ago. After the impressive start he is off to in 2026, the IU commit is poised to exceed those numbers this season. If he keeps this level of production up, he may not be done rising.
Indiana fans have a lot to be excited about once Lukas Prock gets to campus
Prock is described by 247Sports National Analyst Hudson Standish as a "savvy distributor who finds success within and outside of structure, and can place the football in tight windows across all three levels of the defense." After seeing what Cignetti has done with QBs at James Madison and Indiana, Prock could be the next great Hoosier QB waiting in the wings.
During his time at James Madison, Cignetti coached Ben DiNucci and Cole Johnson to CAA Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2019 and 2021, Todd Centeio to Sun Belt Player of the Year honors in 2022, and Jordan McCloud to Sun Belt Player of the Year recognition in 2023. Upon arriving in Bloomington, Cignetti led Kurtis Rourke to Second Team All-Big Ten honors in 2024.
Then of course, Cignetti coached Fernando Mendoza to the Heisman Trophy in 2025. Josh Hoover is off to a roaring start through his first six games as a Hoosier, as he's completed 68.2% of his passes for 1,364 yards and 17 touchdowns without an interception. That kind of elite production at the quarterback position makes Cignetti and Indiana the envy of college football fans across the country.
Prock still has some time before arriving in Bloomington, but there's no denying that the excitement surrounding him continues to grow. His talent is undeniable, and learning from coaches like Cignetti, Tino Sunseri, and Mike Shanahan could help him reach his full potential at Indiana.
