There's no denying that Curt Cignetti has found great quarterback talent during his tenure at the helm of the Indiana football program. Kurtis Rourke earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors in Cignetti's first season, and then Fernando Mendoza won the Heisman Trophy and led the Hoosiers to a perfect 16-0 season that culminated in a historic National Championship last season.
This season, Cignetti went out and got former TCU gunslinger Josh Hoover to be Indiana's QB1 this fall. It's clear that Cignetti puts a heavy emphasis on experienced transfer portal QBs, but recruiting high school signal-callers also remains a key.
Indiana's 2027 recruiting class features 3-star QB Jameson Purcell, who continues to rise in the national recruiting rankings. Hailing from Park Ridge, IL, Purcell is ranked as the No. 26 quarterback in the country for the 2027 class. He committed to the Hoosiers last July, and put together a strong junior season at Maine South High School. Now, Purcell has earned an invite to the nation's premier quarterback camp series and competition.

Elite 11 has a long list of noteable alumni including Andrew Luck, Carson Palmer, and Matthew Stafford, and in more recent seasons, C.J. Stroud, Kyler Murray, Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, and Bryce Young.
Purcell will head to Los Angeles with his stock continuing to rise. This past season, threw for over 2,800 yards and 28 touchdowns while completing 62% of his passes. He was also a strong contributor in the running game, as he collected 250 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground. Owning a 6'2" 200-pound frame, Purcell is a key piece of Indiana's 2027 recruiting class.
Purcell is firmly committed to Cignetti and the Hoosiers, and he took an official visit to Bloomington this past weekend. Hoosier fans are fired up to see what he can do in Los Angeles, and hope that his skill set continues to evolve over the next year before he gets to Bloomington.
