Indiana basketball has had quite a couple of days, starting with the NCAA Tournament snub, denying any sort of postseason tournament, and now they officially have their new head coach. The Hoosiers have officially hired West Virginia coach Darian DeVries, another coach who is dealing with a lot of what Indiana has dealt with in the past few days.

There are a lot of people happy with this hire, a lot of Hoosiers fans have expressed their joy over Indiana bringing in a younger guy who has shown he knows what it takes to win and even did so in his first season with a major basketball program. At West Virginia, DeVries did everything she should have done to get the Mountaineers into the NCAA Tournament, but apparently, the selection committee didn't agree with everyone else in the country.

Of course, there are always going to be people who are unhappy with any decision, but that is not what we are going to talk about here. There are other people, probably the people who matter the most in this case, who are very happy about DeVries coming to Indiana, and that is the players.

Indiana forward Luke Goode, who is seeking another year of eligibility with the Hoosiers, took to Twitter with excitement over DeVries making his way to Bloomington.

What is even better is that 2025 Indiana recruit Trent Sisley seems excited and ready to be coached by DeVries. On X (formally known as Twitter), Sisley said he is ready to get to work, which right now, as one of two players coming to Bloomington before the DeVries hire, is great.

Having the approval of fans and administration is one thing, but having the approval of the players who will be playing under their new head coach is something huge. If the players aren't behind their new coach, then this team certainly isn't going anywhere. So the approval of the players is everything, and if Goode is able to return to the team next season, having a leader that is fully behind his new head coach will speak volumes.
