Indiana OF, Devin Taylor Named Semifinalist for 47th Golden Spikes Award

Indiana outfielder Devin Taylor was named one of 25 semifinalists named for the 2025 Golden Spikes Award presented by Chinook Seedery, USA Baseball announced earlier this week.

The Golden Spikes award is one of the nation's most prestigious individual awards, handed out annually to the best player in College Baseball. Charlie Condon (Georgia), Dylan Crews (LSU) and Paul Skenes (LSU) won the past three editions of the award in 2024 and 2023 respectively via USA Baseball

“With another terrific amateur baseball season nearing the finish line, we are thrilled to honor the twenty-five best players in the country as Golden Spikes Award semifinalists,” said USA Baseball CEO/Executive Director Paul Seiler. “These athletes have put together tremendous seasons and are extremely deserving of this honor. We are excited to watch the remainder of season and to name the forty-seventh winner of the Golden Spikes Award next month.”

In 2024-25 Taylor, had a batting average of .366 with, 16 home runs and a career high 60 RBI's. He had 75 hits and finished top three in the Big Ten with 51 walks.

Devin Taylor was named First Team All-Big Ten for the third time in his career, becoming the first Indiana player since Mickey Morandini (1986-88) to accomplish that feat.

In his career, Taylor ranks top-10 in program history in home runs (52), RBIs (173), runs scored (189), walks (124) and slugging percentage (.664). He's a two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection and is likely to make it three-consecutive years when conference honors are released on Tuesday per IU Athletics

The 2025 Golden Spikes Award timeline is as follows:

  •  May 18: Golden Spikes Award semifinalists announced, and fan voting begins
  •  May 28: Golden Spikes Award semifinalists fan voting ends
  •  June 4: Golden Spikes Award finalists announced, and fan voting begins
  •  June 20: Golden Spikes Award finalists fan voting ends
  •  June 21: Golden Spikes Award winner announced
