The month of October means that there is a lot going on in the world of Indiana Hoosier athletics. The college football season is already heading into Week 6, soccer and volleyball are in full swing, and college basketball is right around the corner. Let's recap the weekend that was and take a quick look at what's to come over the next few days for the Hoosiers.

Football makes history vs Rutgers, faces tough test at Nebraska

Indiana dominated its first road game of the season on Saturday night against Rutgers. The Hoosiers rolled to an emphatic 47-15 victory, and are now 5-0 on the season and have yet to trail in a game.

The Cream and Crimson made history in Week 5, as Indiana became the first Big Ten team since 1995 to have two running backs and two receivers all account for over 100 yards. On the ground, Turbo Richard ran for 204 yards and a touchdown while Lee Beebe Jr. added 124 yards and a score. In the receiving game, Nick Marsh paced the Hoosiers with 120 yards and a touchdown while Charlie Becker collected 107 yards and two touchdowns.

Week 6 Big Ten Power Rankings: Northwestern, Minnesota continue to be major problems

Another road game is on the docket for Week 6, and this one presents a much tougher test. The Hoosiers are set to battle the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday afternoon in a matchup between two 5-0 teams. Matt Rhule and the Huskers are desperately looking for a signature win over a ranked opponent, so Indiana can't afford to overlook Nebraska in any way.

Men's soccer remains unbeaten in electric fashion

The Indiana men's soccer team continues to roll. The 2nd-ranked Hoosiers took down the 4th-ranked Maryland Terrpains on Friday by a score of 3-1. Stephane Njike provided another electric goal and celebration, helping move the Cream and Crimson to 9-0-2 on the season. Next up for the Hoosiers is a contest against the Kentucky Wildcats Tuesday, Oct. 6 at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington.

Men's basketball hosts Cream and Crimson scrimmage

The Indiana men's basketball program hosted the Cream and Crimson scrimmage on Friday night. That means the regular season is getting closer and closer to starting up. In fact, IU's first exhibition game is just two weeks away. The Hoosiers will take on the North Carolina Tar Heels on Monday, Oct. 18 in an exhibition game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Coming off an underwhelming 18-14 season that resulted in missing the NCAA Tournament, Darian DeVries is looking to lead the Hoosiers to a much-improved 2026-27 campaign.

Volleyball set for matchup vs No. 1 Nebraska

The Indiana volleyball team survived a road test at Rutgers on Sunday afternoon. After a late surge from Rutgers, the Hoosiers were able to find a 3-1 (25-20, 17-25, 25-21, 26-24) victory over the Scarlet Knights. With the win, Indiana moves to 10-3 on the season, which includes a 3-1 record in Big Ten play. A big matchup awaits this week, as the Hoosiers will host No. 1 Nebraska on Thursday night in Bloomington.
