This past weekend brought plenty of intriguing storylines in the world of Hoosier athletics. As another jam-packed week gets underway, let's take a minute to recap the biggest developments for Indiana from the past few days.
Men's basketball dominates North Carolina in second exhibition game
On Sunday night, the IU mens' basketball team put forth an impressive effort against the North Carolina Tar Heels. In an exhibition game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana rolled to an emphatic 76-58 victory. The Hoosiers controlled the game from start to finish, and gave the hometown crowd a lot to be excited about.
Most notably, Indiana out-rebounded UNC 53-31 with a lopsided 20-10 advantage on the offensive glass. After struggling to rebound effectively on both ends of the floor last season, the Hoosiers seem to be a much better team on the boards in 2026-27. Bryce Lindsay led the way with 26 points, while Samet Yigitoglu led the team with 11 rebounds.
The Hoosiers have now won their first two exhibition games in impressive fashion. Last week, Indiana defeated Butler 96-68 in Indianapolis. Indiana's final exhibition game is slated for this coming Sunday, Oct. 25 against Western Kentucky. The regular season opener is on Monday, Nov. 2 against Eastern Illinois in Bloomington.
Football sees 22-game winning streak come to an end
The IU football team fell 19-15 to Ohio State on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium. The loss snaps Indiana's 22-game winning streak, as well as its 19-game home winning streak. It's the first home loss for Curt Cignetti at Indiana, and now both of his regular season losses in Big Ten play have come to Ohio State.

In what turned into a tough defensive battle, the Indiana running game struggled to get going. The Hoosiers managed just 73 yards on the ground, and uncharacteristically committed two turnovers. After the loss, Indiana dropped from No. 5 to No. 6 in the Week 7 AP Top-25 Poll.
Hoosiers looking to bounce back on the road against Michigan
Moving forward, another tough test awaits Cignetti and company this coming weekend. Indiana heads north to battle the Michigan Wolverines in Week 8, which will mark IU's first trip to Ann Arbor in the Cignetti era. Michigan is 4-2 on the season. Kick-off between the Hoosiers and Wolverines is slated for Noon ET on Saturday at The Big House.
Indiana volleyball sweeps Washington
The 18th-ranked IU volleyball team took care of business against 20th-ranked Washington over the weekend in Seattle. The Hoosiers took down the Huskies in straight sets, and moved to 11-6 overall and 4-4 in Big Ten play on the season. Another road matchup awaits this week, as the Cream and Crimson head to Columbus to take on Ohio State on Friday night.
