As it stands, Indiana's 2027 recruiting class features just four commits. The class is led by 4-star CB Monsanna Torbert Jr, who is currently ranked as the No. 26 cornerback in the country by 247Sports. The class also features 3-star QB Jameson Purcell, 3-star LB Garyon Hobbs, and 3-star OT Jeremiah Jones.
Big wins, big money: Curt Cignetti's success and leadership is paying off - literally
It's been a busy spring for Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers as they look to add to the 2027 class. Several high-profile recruits have taken official visits to Bloomington over the last few weeks, and among them is 4-star EDGE Jayce Brewer.
Hailing from right down the road at Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis, Brewer is ranked as the No. 10 player in the state of Indiana and the No. 41 edge in the country by 247Sports.
He made his commitment decision on Saturday, and Hoosier fans are disappointed to see him commit to a different Big Ten school.
4-star EDGE Jayce Brewer commits to Michigan
On Saturday evening, Brewer officially pledged to play for Kyle Whittingham and the Michigan Wolverines. He announced his commitment live on the Rivals' YouTube channel. Brewer's list of finalists included Michigan, Indiana, Purdue, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Auburn.

Brewer is the seventh addition to Michigan's 2027 recruiting class, which is currently ranked as the No. 36 recruiting class in the country.
Momentum appeared to be building for Cignetti and the Hoosiers after Brewer's official visit to Indiana over the weekend of April 24, but the 4-star playmaker will now head north to Ann Arbor. Despite missing out on an in-state prospect, Cignetti will be just fine in 2026 and beyond.
Jayce Brewer picking Michigan is no sweat for Curt Cignetti
While landing a talented edge rusher like Brewer would have been a solid addition to IU's 2027 recruiting class, in the end it's not a major loss for Cignetti and the Hoosiers.
Cignetti has shown that he doesn't need 4 and 5-star talent-rich rosters to take the college football world by storm. He led Indiana to a historic 16-0 season that culminated in an eye-popping National Championship run with a roster full of 3-star recruits.
There's no denying that Cignetti has the secret sauce when it comes to finding undervalued talent. Adding 4 and 5-star players couldn't hurt, but Indiana fans shouldn't be sweating about missing out on an in-state product like Brewer. In Cig We Trust.
