The 2025-26 men's college basketball season began on Monday around the country, but the Indiana Hoosiers have been waiting for their season to kick off but the wait is over on Wednesday officially when the face off with Alabama A&M.
The start of the Darian DeVries era is exciting around Bloomington and the Big Ten. Last season Indiana coached by Mike Woodson, finished with an overall record of 19–13 and a Big Ten conference record of 10–10. After missing the NCAA Tournament for two seasons in a row Woodson was relived of his duties at the seasons end.
Indiana then hired Darian Devries from West Virginia, where he went 19-13 in his only season after a six-year run at Drake with three NCAA Tournament appearances and a 150-55 record. DeVries overhauled nearly the entire Indiana roster, bringing in 11 transfers and one true freshman including four-star wing Trent Sisley, his son Tucker DeVries, Tay Conerway and Lamar Wilkerson.
Hopes are high for Indiana's basketball program this season but with all the turnover on the staff and roster in a loaded Big Ten Conference, Indiana is likely to finish in the middle of the pack in the conference in 2025-26.
Alabama A&M went 10-22 overall and finished ninth out of 12 teams in the SWAC with a 6-12 record in conference play. Head coach Otis Hughley Jr. resigned after three seasons with just a 37-63 overall record. Their new head coach taking over the program is Donte Jackson. Jackson brings over his staff from Grambling last season, including six transfers on the 2025-26 roster.

Final Prediction:
Indiana covers the spread as both teams are working out kinks to fix an upgrade their rosters under first year head coaches. Indiana is too deep, with too much experience and three point shooting to lose this game. The Hoosiers win 94-51, led by Tucker DeVries and Lamar Wilkerson. I also expect all 12 players to get time including the injured Nick Dorn who is questionable for tomorrow's match up.
