Indiana basketball legend Calbert Cheaney has landed a new role as studio analyst role with NBC and Peacock.

The Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball program plays five games on Peacock this season, and the network will have coverage of college basketball all season.
From an NBC Sports release: “A 13-year NBA veteran (No. 6 overall pick in 1993 Draft), he was a three-time All-American at Indiana and is still the Big Ten men’s all-time leading scorer. Cheaney makes his debut as a college basketball analyst on Peacock this season.”
NBC and Peacock other new analysts on this seasons "College Countdown" will include former Iowa Hawkeyes head coach Lisa Bluder and NBA veterans Brendan Haywood and Evan Turner.
Cheaney who is a 13-year NBA veteran was a former lottery pick and the No. 6 overall pick in 1993 NBA Draft. He was selected by the Washington Bullets and played 13 seasons between his time with the Bullets, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors.
He appeared in 825 regular-season NBA games and had a career averages of 9.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
Cheaney previously was a three-time All-American at Indiana and is still the Big Ten Conference men’s all-time leading scorer. Cheaney finished his career with a Big Ten-record 2,613 career points under legendary head coach Bobby Knight. The Cheaney-Knight duo produced a Final Four and two Big Ten titles.
Most recently, Cheaney spent two seasons as Indiana's Director of Player Development in a non-coaching role after being hired on May 23, 2023. The stint marked his second with the Hoosiers after serving as the Director of Operations for two seasons (2011-13) and the Director of Internal and External Player Development (2012-13).
