Indiana Men's Basketball Ranked No. 16 in latest AP Poll
Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball (2-0) rose up one spot from their preseason rankings in the latest edition of the men's Associated Press Top 25 poll released Monday.
Indiana hoops climbed one spot to No. 16 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll, following a pair of blowout wins over SIUE and Eastern Illinois on Sunday, 90-55.
The Big Ten conference has three more programs ranked in this week's poll, led by last year's national runner-up Purdue at No. 13 after the Boilermakers' 2-0 start, No. 21 Ohio State remained at its previous spot from the preseason poll. Rutgers (No. 24) rose spot as well, swapping with No. 25 Ole Miss.
Two of Indiana's potential non-conference opponents are ranked this week and one received votes. Indiana begins the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament on Nov. 27 against Louisville, which is unranked, but the Hoosiers could play No. 4 Gonzaga in the second round or No. 9 Arizona in its third game. Providence also received four points but remained unranked. Indiana could play the Friars in the third game.
The Hoosiers next matchup comes on Saturday, when they take on unranked South Carolina at 3 p.m. ET at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall (Peacock). The Gamecocks are 1-1 to open the season with a loss to North Florida and win over South Carolina State. They play Towson on Tuesday before heading to Bloomington.
