Class of 2027 guard LJ Smith announced he has received a scholarship offer from the Indiana Hoosiers basketball program.

Smith attended Lincolnton H.S. in Lincolnton, North Carolina his first two years of high school. Smith was sensational in his sophomore season as he averaged 33.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.6 steals per game.

On Nike EYBL circuit for the spring and summer league, Smith plays for Thaddeus Young’s Team Thad where he averaged 13.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per game on 44.4 percent shooting.

Smith was invited to the NBPA Top 100 Camp recently and On3’s National Basketball Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw was impressed by the 6-foot-4 rising junior L.J Smith.

“LJ Smith played a compact game this week that led to production,” Shaw said. “He averaged 11.0 points and shot 37.5 percent from three. Continuing to develop his on ball reads will take his game to the next level, but Smith continues to prove to be an offensive weapon.”

"Smith showed his shooting touch on day two. A noted scorer, he played predominantly off ball and capitalized on the opportunities presented. He has a good frame and a smooth shooting touch.”

L.J Smith also has offers from: North Carolina, Tennessee, Kansas, Memphis, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Georgia, North Carolina State, Wake Forest, Clemson, West Virginia and others.

Smith said he looks for one common thread among the schools and programs recruiting him.“I just want to see how well the coaches take care of their players and how they work out,” Smith said.Smith has visited a handful of schools already and doesn’t have any others planned.

The Indiana 2027 target is ranked as the No. 27 overall prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 2 combo guard and the 3rd overall player in the state of North Carolina according to 247Sports Composite
