Indiana men’s basketball officially kicked off the countdown to the 2025–26 season by participating in the Big Ten’s annual preseason Media Day on Thursday. Head coach Darian DeVries, along with captains Tukcer DeVries and Lamar Wilkerson traveled to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois to meet with the media, preview the team’s outlook, and provide a look into the new regime in Bloomington.

The son of Indiana men's head basketball coach Darian DeVries, Tucker DeVries followed his father to Bloomington for his final season of eligibility to kick off a new era in Bloomington after the disappointing tenure under former coach Mike Woodson.

Woodson stepped down as the head coach of Indiana men's basketball after four seasons, ending his tenure with a overall record of 82-53. He made two NCAA tournament appearances during his time as head coach, but missed the tournament in his final two season at IU.

Darian added 12 new players which also included Lamar Wilkerson who was attending media day on Thursday. Wilkerson, a former two-time All-Conference USA first team selection at Sam Houston State, Wilkerson started in 32 games in 2024-25 averaging 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 steals in 34.9 minutes per game.

Tucker DeVries, only appeared in eight games at West Virginia last season, averaging 14.9 points per game, and 4.9 rebounds per game, as he dealt with a shoulder injury which required off-season surgery.

Previously DeVries played three seasons at Drake University were he was a two-time Missouri Valley Player of The Year and was averaged 14.9 points, 1.8 steals,1.5 blocks. and 4.9 rebounds.

Darian DeVries joined the Indiana Hoosiers after spending just one season with the Mountaineers. In his only season at the helm, DeVries led West Virginia to a 19-13 overall record, finishing 10-10 in the Big 12

In his previous tenure DeVries went 150-55 at Drake. The Bulldogs won the Missouri Valley regular-season championship in 2019 and the conference tournament title in 2023 and 2024.

Darian DeVries spent the first 30 minutes in a media session before Tucker and Wilkerson took over with their own 20-minute session.

Here are some of the more memorable quotes from all three Indiana Hoosiers yesterday:

“What I love about this group is their coachability,” DeVries said. “They want to get better. They’re unselfish. They play with enthusiasm. That’s how we’re going to build this.”

"We love to shoot threes," Darian DeVries said. "I mean, that's what we believe in. That's what we recruit to. So, you'll see that as we continue forward too. Like, this year's team was put together with the idea that we want to have a lot of guys that can really shoot it, a lot of guys that really understand how to play, have a great IQ, unselfish, and then we'll recruit to that moving forward, too.
