The (2-0) Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball program had a statement win this afternoon when they defeated the (2-1) Marquette Golden Eagles at the United Center, 100-77.

Indiana was led in scoring in their win by senior forward Tucker DeVries who had 27 total points. The two-time Missouri Valley Conference player of the year scored 24 of his game-high 27 points in the first half.

True freshman Trent Sisley added 15 points and big-man Sam Alexis had13 points off the bench. Indiana made 14-of-28 3-pointers and were able to take care of the ball tonight, they committed just 8 turnovers. The Hoosiers had four double-figure scorers in Sunday’s win as well (Lamar Wilkerson and Tayton Conerway).

For Shaka Smart and the Golden Eagles, they were led by guard Chase Ross with 19 points but he struggle to find consistency going 4-of-13 from the field and 10-of-12 from the line in a game. Nigel James added 16 points and forward Royce Parham had 11 points. Marquette shot 37%, making just 4 of 16 behind the arc but 29 of 33 free throws.

Indiana now leads the all-time series against Marquette 9-2. The two programs last met prior to today in the 2018 season at Assembly Hall, when the Hoosiers won 96-73 on Nov. 14, 2018.

The Waterkeeper Alliance Invitational at the United Center in Chicago was huge for Darian DeVries and his Hoosiers team but now they have to hold court against lighter competition.

Indiana returns to action on Wednesday when they host Milwaukee at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall a 7 PM E.T. The game will be broadcast on FS1.

Their next opponent after that include a home stand against UIW, Lindenwood, Bethune Cookman and Kansas State before entering Big Ten Conference play.
