While Darian DeVries is doing everything he can to build his roster at Indiana, the new head coach just can't seem to fully get his footing under him. The Hoosiers are a premiere program that can offer players a lot in NIL, but they can't make offers is no one comes knocking.

DeVries is making the phone calls, but he can't force players to choose to play for Indiana. The Hoosiers lost out on Nijel Pack, a 4-star transfer from Miami who grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. Instead, the shooting guard chose Oklahoma and the SEC over Indiana and the Big Ten. Luckily, DeVries has landed his son Tucker DeVries, a shock to absolutely no one, Conor Enright out of DePaul, and Reed Bailey from Davidson.

DeVries is also working the high school recruiting network to see if he can sway any players to flip to Indiana next season. There are other players Indiana is pursuing, like 4-star transfer Lamar Wilkerson from Sam Houston, whom the Hoosiers are hosting a visit from in the near future. Indiana is also after a 3-star transfer from Evansville that could be a big land for DeVries.

Indiana actively pursues 3-star transfer Tayshawn Comer from Evansville

Indiana is in need of transfer portal players badly right now. The Hoosiers need to fill out their roster and they need to do it fast because players are flying off the shelf. However, there is one player Indiana is particularly interested in and that is Tayshawn Comer from Evansville, a 3-star transfer guard.

Comer had a solid season this past year, more than doubling his career points per game average. Comer started his college career with Eastern Kentucky before transferring to Evansville before last season. This past year, he averaged 16.2 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, and an astounding 4.1 assists. While his three-point shooting could use some work, he is a point guard no less than he can be a facilitator.

After losing out on Pack, this would be a huge get for Indiana as they need a sure-handed guard that runs the court well enough to get top scores like DeVries and Enright open. Comer is an Indiana native, so playing close to home could be something that gives the Hoosiers an edge, but they need to make an offer soon as he already had a visit with Big Ten rival Iowa.
