Indiana Hoosiers vs Nebraska Cornhuskers Game Preview and Prediction
The No.16 Indiana Hoosiers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers will meet Saturday in Bloomington (IN) for a massive B1G matchup at Noon ET.
Against the Northwestern Wildcats in their last game, the Hoosiers won 41-24. The Cornhuskers won versus the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in their last game, 14-7, both teams are coming off bye weeks entering this matchup.
The Indiana Hoosiers are a perfect 6-0 this season with every win coming by at least 14 points and they haven't trailed at any point this season as well. The Hoosiers are coming off a bye week and are back at home for the next two weeks starting with Nebraska followed by Washington. The Hoosiers and head coach Curt Cignetti have surpassed expectations and have doubled their wins from a season ago when they finished 3-9.
The keys for Nebraska:
- Nebraska needs to control the clock, their best defense to slow down IU may be the Cornhuskers offense led by freshman and former five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola.
- Dylan Raiola has to take care of the football. One of the biggest reasons they aren't ranked and undefeated is offensive line play and turnovers against Illinois. Dylan threw a massive interception late and was pressured all game which led him to be sacked six times.
- Turnovers will be a major key for Nebraska to win, IU takes care of the football really well and is a veteran team, the Matt Rhule led team will need a big turnover early to take the crowd out of the game .
The keys for Indiana:
- Running the ball is a key for the offense to get going, I know Kurtis Rourke is one of the top quarterbacks in the nation but running the ball will make it easier for him deep in the game. Nebraska hasn't allowed a rushing touchdown all season.
- Indiana has generated 500-plus total yards offense in each of the last three games, with nine scoring drives of 10-plus plays, the key will be to spreading Nebraska's defense thin with all the depth IU has this is very possible.
- Indiana's defense. IU ranks 14th in points allowed per game (14.8), seventh in total yards allowed (255.7), 25th in passing yards allowed (171.8), eighth in rushing yards allowed (83.8), tied for seventh in sacks (19) and tied for 12th in tackles for loss (41).
The stars have to shine for Indiana to win over Nebraska in this matchup, plain and simple. The Hoosiers have more depth than Nebraska on offense and more stars players, with Elijah Sarratt, Ty Son Lawton, Omar Cooper, Justice Ellison and Kurtis Rouke leading the way I believe Indiana will win over Nebraska 28-27.
